“Planning a wedding in a pandemic was odd, scary, and stressful, but also fulfilling and we wouldn’t have changed it for anything.” Ashley and Devin had originally planned a destination wedding on the coast of Mexico with over 100 of their closest friends and family. When the pandemic hit, they had to pivot rapidly from the wedding of their dreams to the wedding of their dreams 2.0 at The Black Stallion on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
“We wanted to ensure some of the same laid back themes of tropical coastal, casual/chic, and the celebration of love and family that were intended for Mexico were carried over to our new destination.” Ashley scoured the internet for the perfect pivot location and ultimately found The Black Stallion, a unique 24 bedroom home in Corolla, NC, the perfect location to safely host their closest friends and family for a wedding celebration. The location offered the perfect amount of space to have a welcome cocktail party the night before, to give the younger kids space to run and play, and to celebrate their ceremony and reception on their wedding day. With the help of The Proper Setting, I Do OBX Weddings, and so many talented wedding vendors the beautiful space at The Black Stallion was transformed just as if they had picked up the resort in Mexico and dropped it on the Outer Banks.
